US DISTRICT COURT:

Hearing set for Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at 2:00 PM

US District Court Judge Avern Cohn heard arguments today, regarding the immigrant victims who were caught in the middle of an immigration scam that was uncovered on April 21, 2003.  He decided to extend the restraining order he issued last week, as the hearing is set to continue next Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at 2:00PM to address the bond issue.

This renewed extension will continue to prohibit the Bureau of Immigration and Custom’s Enforcement from deporting any of these immigrants, pending the next hearing.

The original judgment, halting the deportation of the victims, was rendered in response to a lawsuit that ADC Michigan filed on April 28, 2003. ADC Michigan continues to request the immediate release of these individuals on bond, order of supervision or whatever deferred action that is deemed appropriate, pending court proceedings.
